Travelodge Hotel, Stratford, London
Close to the main Olympic venues in Stratford, the eleven storey, 188 bed hotel was constructed on the site of an old tyre depot by Bowmer & Kirkland Limited. After demolition of the existing premises a steel transfer deck was constructed at first floor with the remaining structure consisting of 229 modular units. The ensuite bedroom units were delivered to site and craned into position fully finished including loose furniture such as beds, chairs and pictures. On completion of the module installation a single ply roofing membrane was laid, external walls clad with aluminium rain screen panels and communal areas were finished. The ground floor was fitted out to provide a reception, breakfast area and back of house functions.
Gaskell was appointed by joint Developers, Peveril Securities Limited and Active Estates Limited to act as Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveyors.
